How to Perform Wudu?

Performing Wudu, the ritual ablution, is an essential part of Islamic worship and purification. It is a spiritual and physical cleansing process that prepares Muslims for acts of worship, such as Salah (prayer), reading the Quran, or entering a mosque. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to perform Wudu:

1. Intention (Niyyah):
Begin with the intention to perform Wudu for the purpose of purification and readiness for prayer or other acts of worship. Although the intention is made in the heart and not verbally expressed, it is an important prerequisite for the validity of Wudu.

2. Start with Bismillah (In the Name of Allah):
Recite “Bismillah” (In the Name of Allah) before beginning the Wudu. This invocation acknowledges the spiritual significance of the act and invokes the blessings of Allah.

3. Wash the Hands:
Begin by washing both hands up to the wrists three times. Ensure that water reaches between the fingers and around the nails, thoroughly cleansing the hands.

4. Rinse the Mouth:
Take a small amount of water in the right hand and rinse the mouth three times, swishing the water around and cleansing the mouth and teeth.

5. Cleanse the Nose:
Sniff water into the nostrils with the right hand and then expel it using the left hand, repeating this process three times. Ensure that water reaches the entire nasal cavity for thorough cleansing.

6. Wash the Face:
Using both hands, splash water onto the face three times, from the hairline to the chin and from ear to ear. Ensure that the entire face, including the forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin, is washed completely.

7. Wash the Arms:
Start with the right arm, washing it up to the elbow three times. Then, repeat the same process for the left arm. Ensure that water reaches all parts of the arms, including the elbows and between the fingers.

8. Wipe the Head:
Moisten the hands and wipe over the head, starting from the forehead and moving towards the back of the head, and then bringing the hands back to the forehead. This action should be performed once.

9. Wipe the Ears:
Use the index fingers to wipe the inside and outside of the ears with moistened fingers. Ensure that the entire ear is wiped once.

10. Wash the Feet:
Start with the right foot, washing it up to the ankles three times, ensuring that water reaches between the toes and around the ankles. Repeat the same process for the left foot.

11. Recite the Shahada (Testimony of Faith):
After completing Wudu, recite the Shahada, affirming the oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him).
